This Ruined Puzzle p.1

Just shoving my comments I left at lj comm 30_kisses here to make my life easier.

So, a few notes about this little emo song-comic dealie. First off, this was partially inspired by a short by Scribbler in her As Deep As The Sky series ([link]) in which Yugi proclaims himself to be "the worst long distance best friend ever." It stuck in my head worse than something that sticks in my head really bad. Then the song came along. Things got ugly.

Secondly, if you can get your hands on the song, you'll understand why I draw Yugi looking so sad in all the panels, but it's not necessary.

Thirdly, I liked my gesture drawings I used to plan out the paneling and such- I think they had a lot of energy, so I left them as semi-transparent layers under the digital inking and toning. Overall it gives it kinda a messy feel, but I think it would've been less interesting if I hadn't kept the original sketches.

Fourthly, and finally, (thank god) the Spiderman comic book that Yugi and Anzu are reading in the photo of them as kids is a nod to Myaibou's Revival and Identity series ([link]), because they're amazing, I'm obsessed with them, and because I'm convinced things really, truly could've (and would've) gone that way.
